Introduction about Vinh city
Vinh city is recognized as the grade-1 urban center, the economics, political and cultural center of Nghe An province, hometown city of Ho Chi Minh president – a hero of national liberation, a world cultural celebrity.
During the historical flow of feudal dynasties, with geo-political and geo-historical positions, Vinh city was chosen to be feudal dynasties lord, and a beauty spot of country. During the uprisings to win and protect national independence, Vinh was the cradle of patriotic and revolutionary movements with historical celebrities. In 1788, Emperor Quang Trung chosen Vinh to build new capital called Phuong Hoang Trung Do. From the 20th of XX century to the August Revolution of 1945, Vinh was economic and culture center, also patriotic movement center, revolution movement of North Center area.
Vietnam Communist Party was established on February 3rd 1930, Vinh Communist Party was established in March 1930. The revolutionary movement in Vinh had a new turning point. Ben Thuy “lead at forefont” of revolution movement of 1930-1931, culminating in Xo Viet Nghe – Tinh. The Xo Viet drum sound of Vinh – Ben Thuy workers and peasantry spread throughout the country. The French colonialists drowned the revolution movement in a sea of blood, Communist Party cadres, people were killed and imprisoned, but the revolution movement was still maintained. 15 years later when the chance came, under the leadership of Vietnam Communist Party, which was directly the inter-provincial Viet Minh, workers and peasantry of Vinh – Ben Thuy uprisen to seize power from the feudal colonialists, contributing together with the whole country to make the great August Revolution of 1945, opening a new era of national independence.
Through resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists, Vinh was flattened twice. With the determination "It is better to sacrifice everything, not to lose the country, definitely not to be a slave". Implemented President Ho Chi Minh's call to "Scorched-earth policy for the resistance", Vinh was one of the cities scorched the earth for the resistance. Peace was not long, Vinh together with the Socialist North faced a destructive war of American imperialism. Located in a strategic position along the North-South Road, Vinh had to endure thousands of tons of bombs, bullets, artillery and American warships, the whole city was a pile of rubble. But Vinh residents remained calm, highly promoted revolutionary heroism in both production and fighting, accepted loss and sacrifice, contributing to the cause of national liberation and national reunification.
Since the day of national reunification, the whole country built socialism, especially after the Communist Party of Vietnam advocated Doi Moi policy (1986), opened its economy and market to international integration, Vinh city has made great strides in outstanding development. Infrastructure developed quite synchronously, economic zones and clusters were born such as Bac Vinh, Dong Vinh, Nghi Phu, Hung Loc, Hung Dong attracting many domestic and foreign investors. The economy is developing dynamically, the economic structure is shifting towards industry and service with high growth rate. The culture and society field has changed positively. People's life has been improved in all aspects, gradually rising to be worthy of being the economic, cultural, scientific and technological center of the North Central region.
