On the morning of June 24, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a regular online meeting with districts, cities and towns to evaluate the performance of June's tasks and the implementation of development management socio-economic tasks in the first 6 months of 2022; activities of Steering group to promote economic growth in 2022; implementing the public investment plan for the first 6 months of 2022. In the first 6 months of 2022, the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in the context of complicated developments in the world and in the region; Covid-19 epidemic spread widely especially in the first quarter; High prices of raw materials, fuel and materials have adversely affected production and business activities and people's lives. However, the socio-economic situation of Nghe An in the first 6 months of the year still achieved some quite positive results.

The leaders in the meeting

The province's gross domestic product is estimated at 46,426 billion VND, up 8.44% (the growth scenario proposed in the first 6 months is 7.7 - 8.3%), ranked second in the North Central region and ranked 18th/63 provinces and cities. Total export turnover of goods was estimated at 1.126 billion USD, up 24.4% over the same period and reaching 56.33% of the plan. Nghe An has also welcomed over 4 million tourists, up 137% over the same period in 2021. State budget revenue is estimated at 10,100 billion VND, reaching 67.4% of the estimate.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung visited a natural stone product factory in Nghia Long Industrial Cluster (Nghia Dan).

Total social investment capital in the province in 6 months is estimated at 43,158 billion VND, up 19.84% over the same period. Investment attraction continued to achieve positive results with 50 newly granted projects and adjusted 59 projects; total new and additional capital is 26,435 billion dong, up over the same period. In the fields of culture - society, administrative reform has had many positive results; Defence and security is well maintained. The activities of on inspection, citizen reception, settlement of complaints and denunciations continued to change positively.

Besides the positive aspects, some economic indicators are still low compared to the plan. Tax debt is still high, over 1,000 billion VND, an increase of 225 billion VND compared to the end of December 2021. The industrial production index in the first 6 months is estimated to increase by 10.06% - much lower than the same period in 2021. Disbursement of concentrated public investment capital managed by the province has only been over 1,530 billion VND, reaching 26.36% of the plan.

At the meeting, representatives of provincial departments and branches and districts, cities and towns discussed and clarified the achieved results; analyze a number of existing causes in the performance of socio-economic tasks and the results of administration of the government. On that basis, a number of key tasks and solutions are proposed for the remaining 6 months of 2022.
